Tips to save energy at home
- Lower thermostats to 68F in the winter and raise them to 78F during the summer.
- Have your furnace and A/C equipment tuned-up before each heating and cooling season.
- Replace return air filters when appropriate.
- Install ceiling fans to supplement air conditioning use.
- Replace incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFL's) or light-emitting diodes (LED's).
- Set the water heater thermostat to 120F or lower.
- Drain your water heater tank every six months to reduce sediment buildup and increase heating efficiency.
- Install a tankless on-demand water heater.
- Wash clothes in cold water.
- Install and maintain window and door weatherstripping
- Install efficient showerheads and toilets.
